Kjørbo Farm
Sandvika, Norway, Norway
Kjørbo Farm in Sandvika, Norway, is the oldest continuously settled property in the area, with origins tracing back to the Iron Age and first documented as an abandoned farm under Nesøya manor after the Black Death.
Revived in the 17th century under Danish noble Christopher Urne, it passed through owners like Johan Krefting and agronomist Johan Grauer—known as the "potato king"—who cultivated innovative crops, orchards, and introduced thuja trees and roses around 1801-1819.
Herman H. Brodtkorb revitalized it in 1852, building new outbuildings and creating Kjørboparken with mature deciduous trees, while the estate's mixed timber and masonry main house from 1643-1725 overlooks Sandvikselva river and fjord, blending historical parkland with modern uses.
