Kremenets Castle crowns Castle Hill in Kremenets, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine, with origins tracing to the 11th-12th centuries as a Slavic wooden fortification that withstood Mongol invasions under Khan Batu in 1241, though later dismantled under pressure from Golden Horde forces.

Rebuilt in stone during the 14th century under Polish King Casimir III and Lithuanian princes like Vytautas, it reached its peak in the 16th century through reconstructions by figures such as Bona Sforza, wife of Sigismund I, featuring high limestone walls up to 8 meters tall and 2 meters thick, three towers including a northern portal and western residential one, a deep well, barracks, chapels, and bastions for defense against ongoing Tatar and Cossack threats.

Captured after a grueling 1648 siege by Cossack colonel Maksym Kryvonis during the Khmelnytsky Uprising, the fortress fell into ruin and was never fully rebuilt, leaving today only fragments of walls, towers, and gates as a national architectural monument offering panoramic views over the town.
