Kuakata, in Patuakhali District of the Barishal Division, Bangladesh, is a coastal town at the southernmost tip of the country, known for its long, panoramic sea beach facing the Bay of Bengal. The beach stretches about 18 kilometers and is roughly 3 kilometers wide, with a gentle slope of golden sand backed by a belt of coconut trees and nearby forested areas. Kuakata is famous for being one of the few places in the world where both sunrise and sunset can be clearly seen over the sea, earning it the local nickname “Sagar Kannya” or “Daughter of the Sea.” The area also contains the Kuakata National Park, which protects coastal forests and wildlife, and it attracts visitors not only for the sea views but also for its mix of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage sites, seasonal fairs, and local fishing culture.
