Kuldīga Old Town, located in Latvia’s Kurzeme Region, is one of the country’s most charming historic areas and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023.

The town has preserved its centuries-old street layout, traditional wooden houses, brick buildings, and picturesque setting at the meeting point of the Venta River and the small Alekšupīte stream, reflecting its importance during the era of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. Just beside the old town is Ventas Rumba, the widest waterfall in Europe, stretching about 240 to 249 meters across the Venta River.

Although relatively low in height, it is famous for its impressive width and for the seasonal sight of fish leaping upstream over the rapids. Together, the beautifully preserved old town, the historic brick bridge over the Venta, and the striking waterfall create one of Latvia’s most scenic destinations. Kuldīga is widely admired for its blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and relaxed small-town atmosphere.
