Labadi Beach, officially known as La Pleasure Beach, is Ghana's busiest and most vibrant coastal destination, located about 8 kilometers east of Accra in the town of La (Labadi) near Teshie in the Greater Accra Region. As Accra's premier beach, it's a lively melting pot where locals and tourists gather, especially on weekends and holidays, to enjoy reggae, hiplife music, cultural drumming, dancing, beach volleyball, horseback riding along the sand, and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is maintained by nearby hotels, and visitors not staying at these establishments must pay an entrance fee, which is 1 Ghana Cedi on weekdays and 5 Ghana Cedis on weekends. Food lovers can enjoy Ghanaian culinary delights from shore vendors, including grilled tilapia, kebabs, fried yams, and coconut juice, or dine at nearby restaurants like the upscale Labadi Beach Hotel offering both local and international cuisine. While weekends are packed with entertainment and loud music, weekdays (especially Mondays and Tuesdays) offer a quieter experience perfect for relaxation under beach umbrellas and watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The beach features lifeguards for safety, mini bars serving local and continental dishes, speed boats, acrobatic displays, and is easily accessible via tro-tros (local minibuses) from Nkrumah Circle or the Ring Road in Central Accra.
