Lakawon
Philippines, Philippines
Lakawon, also called Llacaon, is a small, banana-shaped island off the coast of Cadiz in the northern part of Negros Occidental, Philippines. Covering about 13 hectares, it is known for its powdery white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters, offering a peaceful and less commercialized alternative to more famous resorts like Boracay.
The island features a small fishing community and is accessible via a 20-minute boat ride from the mainland in Barangay Cadiz Viejo. Lakawon is popular for beach activities such as snorkeling and kayaking, and is home to the TawHai Floating Bar, one of the largest floating bars in Asia.
Its name comes from the Cebuano word "lakaw," meaning "to walk," referencing how visitors often have to walk across its sandbar during low tide. The island provides a serene getaway with natural beauty and a laid-back atmosphere for both local and foreign tourists.
