The Larabanga Ancient Mosque, located in Larabanga village in Ghana's Northern Region, is the oldest mosque in Ghana and one of the oldest in West Africa, dating back to around 1421.

Built in the traditional Sudanic-Sahelian style, it is constructed with mud, sticks, and local materials, featuring two pyramidal towers—one serving as a minaret and the other housing the mihrab facing Mecca.

The mosque is renowned for its distinctive flat-footed adobe architecture supported by wooden beams and has been described as the "Mecca of West Africa" due to its historical, spiritual, and architectural significance.

Next to the mosque stands a large baobab tree reputed to mark the grave of the mosque’s founder, Ayuba. The mosque houses an ancient Quran believed by locals to have been a divine gift, and it has undergone several restorations to preserve its unique structure. It stands as a key site for Islamic heritage, local culture, and tourism in northern Ghana.
