Mahaba Island, part of the Cuatro Islas group in the municipalities of Hindang and Inopacan in Leyte province, Philippines, features a long stretch of fine white or pinkish sand beach fringed by crystal-clear waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and spotting colorful corals and fish.
Named "Mahaba" meaning "long" in Tagalog, it offers a serene, largely undeveloped environment with lush greenery, striking rock formations, a central sandbar, and unique wildlife like coconut crabs and rare red shrimps in nearby lagoons, home to about 100 families in a small village. As a protected landscape and seascape since 2000, it's a prime island-hopping spot best visited in the dry season from December to May via boats from Inopacan.
