Mar Gorgis Chaldean Church in Mosul, Nineveh Governorate, Iraq, traces its roots to at least the 11th century, with the earliest evidence being a 1023 gravestone discovered during later excavations, though Christian worship dedicated to Saint George likely predates this in the region.

Originally tied to the Church of the East, it transitioned to Chaldean Catholic ownership amid 16th-century schisms that birthed the Chaldean Church, serving as a key liturgical site with continuous use documented in manuscripts from 1652 to 1827.

The ancient structure, featuring characteristic Assyrian-Chaldean architecture including a 13th-century Atabeg-style women's door, was largely replaced by a modern church built directly atop it in 1931 after archaeological documentation in 1908 preserved its original plan.
