The Mark Rothko Art Centre, now known as the Rothko Museum, is a major cultural attraction located within the historic Daugavpils Fortress in the Latgale Region of Latvia.

Opened in 2013, it was established in the birthplace of the world-famous artist Mark Rothko, one of the leading figures of abstract expressionism. The museum is unique because it is one of the few places in the world, and the only one in Eastern Europe, where visitors can see original works by Mark Rothko on permanent display.

Housed in a restored 19th-century artillery arsenal, it also features changing exhibitions of contemporary art, educational programs, artist residencies, and cultural events. Widely regarded as one of Eastern Europe’s most ambitious cultural projects, the museum combines historical architecture with modern artistic expression.
