Medio Island, also known as Panganoron Island (with “Panganoron” meaning “sky” in the local language), is a 40.11-hectare island in the Philippines located in the Naranjo Islands cluster off Northern Samar in the Visayas region.

It sits at the center of this group of six islands, which is why it’s called “Medio,” meaning “middle” in Spanish, and the island reaches a maximum elevation of 65 meters above sea level with gently rolling hills covered mostly in coconut vegetation. The island features three beautiful beaches—its main South beach has fine white sand and corals about 300 meters long, the secluded North beach is slightly shorter, and the West beach has the best coral bed among the three.

Surrounded by clear waters rich in marine life, Medio Island is ideal for resort development, ecotourism, and water activities. It holds historical significance as a former watering and victualing station for Spanish galleons traveling between the Philippines and Acapulco, Mexico, and in 2007 the area was officially declared an ecotourism zone under Philippine law. Today the island is primarily used as a coconut plantation and is accessible mainly via Manila to Catarman in Northern Samar.
