Medzhybizh Fortress in Medzhybizh, Ukraine, began with early wooden fortifications from Kievan Rus' times around 1146, evolving into a stone castle in the 14th century under Lithuanian Grand Duchy control by the Koriatovych princes on a cape at the Southern Bug and Buzhok rivers' confluence.

Expanded in the 1540s by Hetman Mikołaj Sieniawski into a Renaissance-style triangular stronghold with 17-meter-high, 4-meter-thick walls, corner towers like the pentagonal Knight's Tower and octagonal Officer's Tower, a Renaissance palace, and a late Gothic church, it defended Podolia against Ottoman expansions and Turkish occupations from 1672-1699.

Owned later by the Czartoryski family, who added neo-Gothic elements, it served as a military garrison until the 19th century, suffered Soviet-era neglect, and now operates as a state historical-cultural reserve with museums showcasing its layered architecture from medieval to modern fortifications.
