Miler McGrath Castle, often associated with McGrath’s Castle in Abbeyside near Dungarvan, County Waterford, was a fortified tower house linked to the influential McGrath family, whose prominence in the region grew under the powerful churchman Miler (Myler) McGrath, Archbishop of Cashel.

The McGraths settled in Waterford after moving south from Ulster and became significant landowners in the area. The castle was a substantial six-storey tower house built as both a residence and a defensive stronghold. Historical records show that it played a role during the conflicts of the 17th century and was considered strong and defensible at the time.

Although the structure survived for centuries, it eventually deteriorated and collapsed in 1916. Today, little remains above ground, but the site continues to be remembered as an important part of County Waterford’s history and the legacy of the McGrath family.
