Monaco Circuit
Monte Carlo / La Condamine, Monaco
The Monaco Circuit, officially called the Circuit de Monaco, is the world’s most famous street racetrack, winding through the narrow streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine in the Principality of Monaco.
At 3.337 km (2.074 miles) long with 19 tight corners, it is the narrowest and slowest track on the Formula 1 calendar, where drivers race at an average speed of about 150 km/h with almost no margin for error due to the close barriers.
The layout includes iconic sections such as the Sainte Dévote turn right after the start line, the steep uphill Beau-Rivage curve, the Casino Square turn, the Grand Hôtel Hairpin (the slowest corner in F1 at just 45 km/h), the high-speed tunnel, the technical Nouvelle Chicane by the harbor, and the challenging Swimming Pool chicanes and Rascasse hairpin.
First used for the Monaco Grand Prix in 1929 and added to the F1 calendar in 1950, the circuit has remained nearly unchanged since then and is considered the crown jewel of motorsport, combining glamour, history and extreme driving challenge in a tiny 3.3-kilometer loop past luxury yachts, casinos and palaces.
