Moremi Game Reserve

Okavango Delta, North-West, Botswana

---

Moremi Game Reserve is a protected wildlife area on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta in northwestern Botswana. Established in 1963, it was one of the first conservation areas in Africa created by local people to protect wildlife and natural habitats from increasing hunting pressure. Covering nearly 5,000 square kilometers, the reserve combines permanent waterways, lagoons, floodplains, forests, and savannas, creating one of Africa’s most diverse ecosystems. This rich environment supports elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, endangered African wild dogs, and hundreds of bird species. Widely regarded as one of Botswana’s premier safari destinations, Moremi Game Reserve offers exceptional wildlife viewing on both land and water. Visitors can explore by vehicle, boat, or traditional mokoro canoe, making it one of the best places to experience the beauty and biodiversity of the Okavango Delta.
