Mount Sabinyo, also spelled Sabyinyo, is an extinct volcano reaching about 3,645 meters (11,959 feet) above sea level, located in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Kisoro, Uganda.
It is unique as its summit serves as the tri-border point where Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo meet. The mountain is characterized by rugged terrain with sharp ridge lines resembling old man's teeth, which is reflected in its local name.
The climb is challenging but popular among hikers, taking about 6 to 9 hours round trip, passing through bamboo and Hagenia forests that are home to endangered mountain gorillas and other wildlife. The summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Virunga volcanoes and nearby lakes, making it a significant ecological and cultural landmark in the region.
