Nagtabon Beach
Philippines , Philippines
Nagtabon Beach is a secluded, raw, and picturesque coastal gem located on the west coast of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, approximately 31–34 kilometers (about 45 minutes to 1 hour) from Puerto Princesa city proper, making it one of the most underrated and off-the-beaten-path beaches near the city.
The beach features pristine golden sands and crystal-clear azure waters framed by lush greenery and towering coconut palms, offering stunning tropical scenery that remains relatively undiscovered by tourists, allowing visitors to enjoy a peaceful and secluded atmosphere. Many visitors call Nagtabon a "virgin beach" because it has no commercial shops, resort cottages, or facilities, creating an unspoiled and undamaged environment with cool fresh air, chirping birds, and solemn tranquility perfect for total relaxation.
Activities available include swimming, skimboarding, surfing (with a surf school on-site), playing frisbee, beach volleyball, beach camping, bonfire, and sunset watching, though visitors should be cautious of strong rip currents that can pull swimmers away from shore when the tide is going out. Small cottages are available for rent at around ₱150–₱200 depending on size, and there is no electricity or mobile signal in the area with locals using solar panels, so visitors are advised to bring their own food and drinks as there are no decent restaurants or stores nearby.
The most convenient way to reach Nagtabon is by renting a motorbike from Puerto Princesa for ₱500–₱700 per day, taking the road to Sabang and El Nido and turning left at Bacungan near the Total Gasoline station, then going straight until seeing the "Nagtabon Beach" sign on the left before the rough downhill road.
