Nakabuang Cave

Philippines , Philippines

Nakabuang Cave, more accurately called Nakabuang Arch or Mahayaw Arch, is a famous natural limestone rock formation on Sabtang Island in Batanes, the northernmost province of the Philippines. It is located on the sands of Morong Beach (also called Nakabuang Beach) and was formed over many years by wind and wave erosion carving through the limestone rock. The massive arch is large enough for people to walk through, creating a stunning photo opportunity with its dramatic shape against the white sand beach, blue waters, and other coastal rock formations. Unlike many beaches in Batanes with strong waves, Nakabuang Beach has relatively calm waters where visitors can safely swim, snorkel, picnic, watch sunsets, and even camp. The site is surrounded by massive boulders and cliffs rising 20–70 feet above sea level, adding to its rugged natural beauty. There is no entrance fee to visit Nakabuang Beach itself, but visitors must pay a P200 environmental fee when entering Sabtang Island, which covers access to all of the island's natural attractions. The best time to visit is during the dry months from November to May when rainfall is minimal and travel is less likely to be delayed by bad weather. Nearby cottages and eateries are available for visitors who want to relax or have a meal while enjoying this secluded, unspoiled natural wonder.
