Nevytske Castle in Ukraine, perched on a volcanic hill overlooking the Uzh River valley in Zakarpattia Oblast, originated in the early 14th century as a defensive stronghold built by Hungarian nobles, later becoming the seat of the powerful Drugeth family who rebuilt it into a Gothic citadel around 1420 with thick walls, towers, and a donjon.

It played a key role in regional conflicts, including 17th-century religious wars between Protestants and Catholics, suffering damage from sieges and invasions before abandonment in the late 1600s amid shifting Hungarian, Transylvanian, and Ottoman influences.

Today, the atmospheric ruins attract hikers and history enthusiasts with panoramic Carpathian views, knightly reenactments, and legends of hidden treasures, standing as one of Ukraine's better-preserved medieval fortresses.
