Nhlangano is the fourth largest town in Eswatini and the administrative capital of the southern Shiselweni Region. It was originally known as Goedgegun, meaning "the meeting place," a name it adopted in 1947 to commemorate the historic meeting between King George VI and King Sobhuza II.
Situated beside the Ngwavuma River, Nhlangano serves as a trade and communication hub for surrounding rural communities. The town has essential facilities including a health center, a prison, a casino, and an SOS Children's Village.
The area relies heavily on agriculture, but is challenged by poverty and drought, which impact local livelihoods and food security. Despite these hardships, Nhlangano remains an important cultural and administrative center in southern Eswatini.
