Playa Guajataca is a beautiful beach on Puerto Rico’s northwest coast, located near the towns of Isabela and Quebradillas, known for its soft white sand, turquoise waters, and dramatic backdrop of rugged cliffs and palm trees.

The beach is famously accessed through the historic Guajataca Tunnel, an abandoned 19th-century sugarcane railroad tunnel that creates a scenic walkway from the highway down to the shore. While the beach is popular for photography, picnics, beach walks, and finding sea glass, swimming is generally not recommended due to rough surf, strong currents, and deep waters that make it dangerous for casual swimmers.

The area offers kayak rentals to explore the nearby Guajataca River, and visitors often enjoy the scenic overlook on Route 2 for panoramic views of the coast, river, and tunnel. There are no permanent facilities at the beach itself, though food trucks and vendors occasionally set up nearby, and it’s a favorite spot among local surfers drawn by the consistent waves.
