Playa Punta Borinquen

Playa Punta Borinquen is a remote, spacious beach located in Aguadilla on Puerto Rico's western coast, sitting within the unofficial Playuela Nature Reserve near the Rafael Hernández Airport.

This wild-looking beach features wide open sand on both sides of a large paved parking lot, with a steep cliff face bordering one side—an unusual feature for Puerto Rico—and a palm grove that provides plenty of natural shade for relaxation. The beach is known for its beautiful vistas, ocean breezes, and picturesque rock formations, making it perfect for picnicking under palm trees or on the sand, though it has no facilities except for a few picnic tables and trash cans.

Swimming is generally not recommended due to rough surf and rip currents, especially in winter, though summer conditions may be safer, and there is some snorkeling available near the cliff and rocks (best done with a flotation device). At low tide, visitors can walk about 10 minutes along the rocks to Punta Borinquen point where they'll find small caves, and the area is also popular with surfers, though it's not ideal for families with young children due to the rough waters.
