Rosendals Slott
Stockholm, Sweden, Sweden
Rosendals Slott is a charming palace pavilion on Djurgården island in central Stockholm, Sweden, built between 1823 and 1827 as a summer retreat for King Karl XIV Johan, the founder of Sweden's Bernadotte dynasty.
Designed primarily by architect Fredrik Blom in the Empire style known locally as Karl Johan style, it features prefabricated elements assembled on-site after an earlier structure burned down in 1819, preserving much of its original opulent furnishings and neoclassical interiors.
Today managed by the Royal Court, it offers guided tours in summer, showcasing royal history amid romantic gardens, and briefly served as a residence for Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia from 2015 to 2017.
