Savranda kalesi
Turkey, Turkey
Savranda Kalesi, also known as Sarvandikar, is a medieval Armenian castle in Osmaniye Province, Turkey, about 115 km east of Adana, guarding the southern end of the Amanus Pass.
Built primarily by Armenians of the Kingdom of Cilicia with brief Byzantine occupations, it features two fortified baileys, round towers, sturdy curtain walls adapted to rocky cliffs, a bent entrance, rusticated ashlar masonry, and a small chapel near the gatehouse.
The fortress changed hands among Crusaders, Seljuks, Franks, and Mamluks from the 11th to 14th centuries before falling permanently in 1337.
