Schloss Friedrichsruh
Aumühle, Germany, Germany
Schloss Friedrichsruh is a historic manor house in the Friedrichsruh district of Aumühle, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, originally built in 1763 as a hunting lodge by Count Friedrich zur Lippe-Biesterfeld and later transformed by Otto von Bismarck into his retirement residence after receiving the Sachsenwald estate as a gift from Emperor Wilhelm I in 1871.
Bismarck expanded the former guesthouse into a castle-like manor where he lived until his death in 1898, now housing the Bismarck-Museum with family artifacts, paintings, and exhibits on his legacy, though the original structure was damaged during World War II bombings. Nearby stands the Bismarck Mausoleum on Schneckenberg hill, his final resting place amid the scenic forest.
