Shagan Qalası

Shagan Qalası is a medieval fortress in the Şağan area of Baku, Azerbaijan, built in the 12th–13th centuries as part of the Absheron defensive system. It was made of white limestone and originally had a tall tower and other defensive structures, but most of it was destroyed by the strong 1841 earthquake. Today, only one tower remains, and the site is protected as an important historical monument.
