Sibi Fort
Sibi, Pakistan, Pakistan
Sibi Fort, also called Chakar Fort or Mir Chakar Khan Fort, is a historic ruined mud fort on the outskirts of Sibi city in Balochistan, Pakistan.
It originally dates back to around 650 CE when a local Hindu tribe called the Sewis built an early mud fort, and it was later rebuilt and expanded in the 15th–16th centuries by the Baloch tribal leader Mir Chakar Khan Rind, who used it as his stronghold during a thirty-year war with the Lashari tribe.
The fort is roughly rectangular, about 216 by 192 meters, with high thick walls, circular bastions, watch towers at the corners, and rooms built in mud-brick and slab masonry, but much of it has been eroded and damaged over time due to tribal conflicts and poor maintenance. Today only a small portion remains under the administration of the Pakistan Army, and general visitors usually can see the outer walls and watch towers from the city entrance, while entry to the main area requires prior army permission.
