Sombrero Island
Philippines, Philippines
Sombrero Island is a small, hat‑shaped island in the Philippines, best known as a striking underwater dive and snorkel site in the Anilao area of Batangas, south of Manila.
It rises steeply from the sea with a cone‑like profile that gives it its “Sombrero” name and is surrounded by deep‑drop coral walls teeming with colourful fish, soft corals, and macro life, making it one of the region’s top diving spots.
The island itself has very little space for visitors, so most people experience it by boat, either diving along the dramatic walls or snorkeling over the rich reef near the surface. Access is usually arranged through dive shops or island‑hopping tours from nearby ports such as Anilao, and the island is prized not for lounging on sand but for the clear water and vibrant marine environment beneath it.
