Springfield Castle is a historic castle estate near Broadford in County Limerick, Ireland, with roots dating back to the late 13th century when the FitzGerald family settled there.

Over the centuries, the site developed into a complex of medieval towers, fortified buildings, and later Georgian residences, reflecting the changing fortunes of its owners. The castle is particularly notable for its well-preserved medieval keep, built in the 15th century, and its association with the Irish poet Dáibhí Ó Bruadair, who was patronized by the FitzGerald family.

Following political upheavals in the late 17th century, the estate passed to the FitzMaurice and later the Deane family, who held the title of Lords Muskerry. Although parts of the estate were damaged during Ireland’s War of Independence, Springfield Castle was restored and remains occupied today. It stands as an important example of Ireland’s layered architectural heritage, combining medieval defensive structures with later country-house design.
