Takino Castle Site Park
Tokorozawa, Japan, Japan
Takino Castle Site Park, located in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, is built on the ruins of Takino Castle, which was originally constructed in the 15th century by Ōishi Sadahisa.
The castle occupied a strategic location on a key route between the northern Kanto Plain and Hachioji and was controlled by the Hojo clan from 1546, later passing to the Takeda clan in 1569 before being abandoned after Tokugawa Ieyasu's arrival in the region in 1590.
Though no buildings remain, the park preserves archaeological evidence such as foundations and a dry moat and features a waterfall that gave the castle its name, meaning "Waterfall Castle." Today, the site serves as a recreational park with walking paths, a children's playground, and a baseball field, and it hosts the annual Sengoku Takino Castle Samurai Festival celebrating its samurai history.
