It was originally a private royal garden featuring numerous rare and native plant species, and it was officially opened to the public in 2025 as a significant cultural and horticultural attraction. The garden spans over 126 acres and contains about 145,000 trees with 583 different plant species, including orchids, palms, ginger, bamboo, ferns, and herbs organized into 12 themed zones.

Notable features include historical buildings like the Japanese House gifted by the Emperor of Japan in the 1880s and the Istana Bukit Zaharah palace built in 1858.
