Tinfunque, located in the Presidente Hayes Department of Paraguay, is a national park situated within the Gran Chaco region known for its diverse wetland ecosystems, including seasonal flooded savannahs, lagoons, and palm savannas.
Covering around 280,000 hectares, it provides habitat for a wide variety of wildlife such as jabirus, herons, spoonbills, capybaras, caimans, and numerous fish species, making it an important area for birdwatching and nature photography. The park's flat terrain with slight elevations creates a rich mosaic of microhabitats that support both wildlife and cattle grazing.
It was designated as a Ramsar Site for wetlands of international importance in 1995 and is assessed for conservation as a resource-handling reserve due to much of its land being privately owned. The park is accessible via the Transchaco Road, with routes leading through nearby towns like Pozo Colorado and Fortín General Diaz.
