Uggool Beach (Irish: Trá an tOgúl) is a large, stunningly beautiful beach in County Mayo on Ireland’s west coast, located south of the town of Louisburgh at the mouth of Killary Harbour where it meets the Atlantic Ocean.

The beach is bordered by the townlands of Uggool, Doovilra, and Mweelin, with Silver Strand to its north, Ireland’s highest mountain Mweelrea to its east, and the vast Atlantic to its west, creating a dramatic backdrop of golden sands framed by mountains and harbor views.

It is widely regarded as among the finest and most spectacular beaches in Ireland, with some calling it the most beautiful on the west coast, offering pristine golden sand and outstanding views of Killary Harbour, Inishturk, Inishbofin, and the north-Galway Connemara coastline. The Bunanakee River flows across the beach, and tidal Dooneen Island sits on its southern edge, making it a unique and magical place for beach lovers seeking seclusion and natural beauty.

Uggool Beach is a 25-minute drive south of Louisburgh along the Wild Atlantic Way and is considered hidden away and hard to reach, but visitors say it’s well worth the adventure, especially at low tide when it’s safest and most accessible, though proper walking shoes are recommended due to rocky terrain and the need to navigate carefully.
