UzhNU Botanical Garden in Uzhhorod, western Ukraine, is a state‑level monument of garden and park art and serves both as a scientific institution and a public green space.

Established in November 1945 after Transcarpathia joined Ukraine, it was created as the botanical garden of Uzhhorod National University and has since grown into one of the stronger university gardens in the country despite periods of crisis.

The garden lies on the right bank of the Uzh River on Ivan Olbracht Street in the eastern part of the city and now extends over more than 80 hectares across two sites, reflecting its dual role as an academic facility and recreational area. Its living collections include several thousand taxa: around 3,900 species and cultivars in open ground, about 1,100 greenhouse plants, and roughly 800 woody species in the arboretum, with material from regions such as the Mediterranean, Caucasus, Crimea, China, Japan, and North America.

A notable focus is on rare and protected flora; the garden maintains Red Data Book species like crocuses, edelweiss, spring snowflake, dogtooth violet, and other Carpathian and European endemics, and it uses these collections for research, teaching, and nature‑conservation education while also offering city residents a landscaped park and quiet resting place.
