Voltzberg

Central Suriname Nature Reserve, Suriname

---

Voltzberg is a striking granite dome rising from the rainforest within the Central Suriname Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in central Suriname.

Located in the Sipaliwini District and part of the Emma Range, the mountain stands about 240 meters high and is one of the country’s most famous natural landmarks. The area around Voltzberg is renowned for its pristine tropical rainforest, rich wildlife, and exceptional birdwatching opportunities. Visitors may encounter monkeys, colorful birds, and the rare Guianan cock-of-the-rock, making the site especially popular with nature enthusiasts and photographers.

Reaching the summit requires a hike through dense jungle followed by a climb over the smooth granite surface, but the effort is rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of seemingly endless rainforest. Together with nearby Raleigh Falls, Voltzberg offers one of Suriname’s most memorable wilderness experiences.
