The Williamstown Botanic Gardens in Australia, opened in 1860, are among Victoria’s most intact and historically significant Victorian-era public gardens. Designed by Edward La Trobe Bateman, the gardens feature classic elements like a formal palm avenue, ornamental pond, shrubberies, and a pinetum, all arranged with curving pathways and manicured lawns.

The gardens have heritage-listed structures including cast iron entrance gates from 1907 and the marble statue of Alfred Thomas Clark, a local historical figure. Set near Williamstown Beach, the gardens have long served as a peaceful retreat for picnics, leisurely walks, social events, and community gatherings.
