Wreck Beach
University Endowment Lands, Canada, Canada
Wreck Beach is a long, rugged stretch of sandy shoreline set along the Strait of Georgia on the western edge of the University Endowment Lands, just west of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
It lies within Pacific Spirit Regional Park and is known as Canada’s only legally recognized clothing‑optional beach, with a clearly marked nude section about 6.7 km from Acadia Beach south to Booming Grounds Creek. The beach is reached by steep forested trails and a famous staircase from the UBC area, opening into a relaxed, tolerant atmosphere where visitors enjoy sunbathing, swimming, and views of the water and surrounding greenery.
Wreck Beach is also valued for its natural setting, public‑access status, and layered history as a protected parkland area owned by the University of British Columbia on unceded Musqueam territory.
