Altes Schloß Heimbach
Germany, Germany
Altes Schloß Heimbach in Teningen-Heimbach, Germany, is a well-preserved 16th-century manor—likely built around 1577 as indicated by dates carved in its stepped gable—erected by the noble Stürtzel von Buchheim family after they purchased the village from Kloster Schuttern, which had been ravaged in the 1525 Peasants' War. Originally forming a U-shaped complex with administrative buildings at the village entrance, possibly once moated or fortified, its side wings were demolished in 1804 when the "Neues Schloss" took over those functions, after which it was sold to the community. Today, the main two-story structure with distinctive arched ground-floor openings dated 1587-1670 stands along the Dorfstraße as a historic landmark, last renovated in 1984 and now serving as the local fire department's equipment house.
