Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Germany, Germany

---

The Altes Schloss in Neustadt an der Waldnaab is a historic castle complex whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, with parts of the site tracing back to the 13th century.

The building was expanded and remodeled during the 16th century, developing into an impressive late Gothic residence that later became the seat of the influential Lobkowitz family. For centuries, the castle played an important administrative and residential role in the region. It served as the residence of the Princes of Lobkowitz until the late 17th century, after which its functions gradually shifted to government and civic use.

Today, the restored castle is one of the town’s most significant landmarks. It houses parts of the district administration and the Upper Palatinate Forest tourism center, while its historic architecture and baroque garden continue to attract visitors interested in the region’s heritage.
