Árpádvár Romhalmaz is the site of a small medieval hilltop fortress located above Dömös in the Pilis Mountains.

The castle stood on the summit of the 483‑meter Árpádvár Hill and is believed to have been occupied between the 12th and 15th centuries, although no written records are known to describe its history in detail. Today, the castle has completely disappeared, leaving only earthworks, scattered stone remains, traces of walls, and the foundations of what was likely a residential tower.

Archaeological finds such as pottery fragments, roof tiles, arrowheads, and spurs indicate that the site was inhabited throughout the medieval period. The hill and its surroundings have been occupied for much longer than the castle itself. The area contains evidence of prehistoric settlement and a large Bronze Age hillfort, highlighting its long-standing strategic importance.

Although many details about Árpádvár remain a mystery, the ruins are valued as an important archaeological site that offers insight into Hungary’s early medieval past and the historic landscape around Dömös.
