The Belle Isle Conservatory, officially known as the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, is a historic botanical garden located on Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan.
Opened in 1904 and designed by the architects George D. Mason and Albert Kahn, it is the oldest continuously operating conservatory in the United States. The conservatory spans 13 acres and features five distinct sections including a Palm House under an 85-foot-high central dome, a Tropical House, a Cactus House, a Fernery, and a Show House that displays seasonal blooming plants.
It houses an extensive collection of exotic plants, most notably the largest municipally owned orchid collection in the country, donated by Anna Scripps Whitcomb in 1955.
