Verified Bennetts Water Gardens

Chickerell, England, United Kingdom

Bennetts Water Gardens is an 8‑acre visitor garden in Chickerell, near Weymouth in Dorset, set on the site of old clay pits that filled with water and became a series of ponds and lakes.

It is best known for its National Plant Collection of water lilies, with many varieties flowering from late spring to early autumn and creating a colourful, Monet‑style water‑garden scene. A striking blue Japanese bridge, inspired by Monet’s famous painting, is a highlight, and the site includes a tropical house, woodland walks, a small museum about local history, and a café.

The gardens are also a nature‑conservation site, home to a range of wildlife and wetland plants, and are run today by the Bennett family, who originally created the garden.
