Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, was established in 1934 as the Berkshire Garden Center by local garden clubs and civic groups, largely spearheaded by the Lenox Garden Club on a parcel donated by Bernhard and Irene Hoffman.

Over the decades, it evolved into a 24-acre botanical garden known for its extensive collection of over 3,000 species and varieties, focusing on plants that thrive in the Berkshires' climate. The garden includes notable features like a terraced herb garden designed in 1937, which remains the oldest garden area, and it played an important role during World War II by creating a Victory Garden to teach locals how to grow their own food. It earned national recognition for its horticultural education and influence in the community, hosting exhibitions including one at the 1939 New York World’s Fair.

Today, it functions as a vibrant educational and cultural center with seasonal events, classes, and exhibits, continuing to inspire through its blend of natural beauty, history, and gardening excellence.
