Bokor is a small rural village in Nógrád County in northern Hungary, nestled among the hills and forests of the Cserhát region.

Known for its peaceful setting and traditional countryside character, it lies in a valley surrounded by natural landscapes that are popular for hiking and outdoor activities. The settlement has medieval origins and was first mentioned in written records in 1265.

Historically linked to nearby Buják Castle, the original village was located slightly south of its present position and was likely devastated during the Ottoman period before being repopulated in later centuries. Bokor is part of the Novohrad-Nógrád UNESCO Global Geopark, an area recognized for its geological and cultural heritage.

The village also features a historic Evangelical church and preserves elements of Hungarian and Slovak rural traditions. Today, Bokor is one of Hungary’s smallest villages, with a very small population and a quiet atmosphere.
