Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, opened in 1987, is a sprawling 20-acre botanical garden in Wichita, Kansas, featuring over 4,000 plant species across more than 30 themed gardens.

It was established through a partnership between the Wichita Area Garden Council and the City of Wichita to promote horticulture and provide educational and cultural experiences. The gardens bloom with tens of thousands of tulips, daffodils, chrysanthemums, and other perennials that change with the seasons, ensuring year-round beauty. Highlights include the Downing Children’s Garden with interactive features like a musical maze and treehouse, the Chinese Garden of Friendship showcasing traditional Chinese design and symbolism, and the Cox Butterfly House which attracts monarchs during migration.

Additional attractions include the Gene E. Spear Railroad Garden with model trains, water features, sculptures, and an Elizabethan Shakespeare Garden. The gardens offer peaceful walking paths, seasonal events, educational programs, and a restored historic carousel. This vibrant community space combines art, nature, and education to engage visitors of all ages and interests.
