Brahelinna is a historic castle manor ruin located in Ristiina, now part of the city of Mikkeli in the South Savo region of Finland. It was commissioned in the 17th century by Count Per Brahe the Younger, who served as Governor-General of Finland, and was intended to function primarily as an administrative and residential center rather than a military fortress. Construction began in 1646 but was never fully completed. After the Great Northern War in the early 1700s, the site fell into disrepair and much of the structure was gradually dismantled, with its stones reused in other local buildings. Today, only portions of the surrounding stone walls, cellar remains, and other ruins survive. The ruins are set in a peaceful wooded area and are considered an important cultural and historical attraction in the Finnish Lakeland region. Visitors can explore the remains while learning about the area's Swedish-era history and the influence of the Brahe family on local development.
