Liinmaa Ancient Castle
Linnamaantie, Finland
Liinmaa Ancient Castle, located in Eurajoki, Finland, was a medieval fortress first mentioned in 1395. It was associated with Dietrich Vieregge, a German noble mercenary serving the Swedish King Albrekt av Mecklenburg.
The castle was constructed mostly of wood and brick with some earth walls and served as a stronghold in the region. Its history was relatively short-lived, as it was abandoned in the early 15th century when the administrative center was moved to Kastelholm and Turku Castles. Today, only ruins remain, but it is recognized as an important medieval site in Finnish history.
