Broniszów Castle
Broniszów, Lubusz Voivodeship, Poland, Poland
Broniszów Castle in Broniszów, Lubusz Voivodeship, Poland, originated as a 12th-century knightly stronghold built by Bronisław, count of Bytom Odrzański, and was later expanded in the late 16th and early 17th centuries by the von Kottwitz family into a Renaissance residence on an L-shaped plan with a three-story brick-and-stone structure. Baroque renovations at the end of the 17th century added features like a tower helmet and ornate plasters, while 19th-century changes under later owners including von Skronsky and von Tschammer und Quaritz introduced a neo-Gothic tower, enclosing walls, a courtyard, and a landscape park after filling the moat. Since 1986, it has hosted the Broniszów National Photographic Workshops, preserving its layered architectural history as a rare Renaissance example in the region.
