Situated in the Heggelbach hamlet amid the Hegau region's volcanic landscape between Lake Constance and the Danube, its primary remnant is the 14th-century St. Georg Kapelle, likely evolved from the original castle chapel, featuring historical ties to the Petershausen Abbey chronicle mentioning "Hakelinbach" as early as 975.

Today, no substantial ruins survive on the site now occupied by the modern Hofgemeinschaft Heggelbach farmstead, blending the area's feudal past with contemporary organic cheesemaking and rural life.
