Burg Lengenfeld - Sozialwerk Heuser

Burglengenfeld, Germany, Germany

---

Burg Lengenfeld, also known as Burg Burglengenfeld, is a large medieval hilltop castle overlooking the town of Burglengenfeld in Bavaria.

Dating back to around the 11th century, it is considered one of the best-preserved castle complexes from the Salian era in Germany and was an important stronghold of the Lengenfeld nobles and later the Wittelsbach dynasty. Over the centuries, the castle served administrative, judicial, and military functions.

Although parts of the complex were demolished in the early 19th century, much of the extensive fortifications, towers, and long surrounding wall survived, preserving its historic character. Today, the castle is home to the Sozialwerk Heuser organization, which operates a therapeutic and residential facility supporting people with mental health challenges.
